Feeling safe in your own home isn’t just a privilege it’s a necessity. You may be thinking that to have a safe home means you will need to invest a large sum of money, this is far from the truth. There are a few actions you can take to ensure your home and families safety, without breaking the bank. 

Before we jump into the actions you can take, we want to enlighten you on the stats of home invasion and why it is so important to secure your home. You may have always thought a break in only happens at night or in darkness, this statement is wrong. Most burglaries occur in-between 10am and 3pm on weekdays. Why this time you ask? This is the time that your home is generally unoccupied due to work or school commitments. Also, homes without a security system in place are about 3 times more likely to experience forced entry. Although a potential intruder won’t want to spend more than a minute trying to enter your home, if your home has enough deterrents to prolong their time, they won’t want to try. Remember, they’re not professionals, just ordinary people from the neighbourhood.

1. Security warning signs - place these around the boundary of your home or business. This is a low cost solution that with make a potential intruder second guess their thoughts on breaking into your home/business.
2. Fake it till you make it - If you can’t afford real CCTV or security cameras to put around, just throw up some dummy ones. Intruders don’t know if they’re real or not, if they seem real and are placed in realistic spots that will be enough to deter them. 
3. Alarm system - This is your more ‘expensive’ option but it is highly effective. Although to save yourself some costs you can opt for a wireless alarm system as an alternative. 
4. Door options - By choosing the right security doors you can protect your home further. This action will prolong the entry time and essentially deter the burglar from entering as it is too much of a hassle and more risk of getting caught.
