Door Widths

Measure the overall width of the opening from the back of the receiving interlock on the left door to the the back of the receiving interlock on the right and divide by two, this will give you the width measurement for each door.

Door Height

Measure heights at three to five points along the track; take this measurement from the top of the bottom track, to the bottom of the top track (1.1 & 1.2), deduct 12 mm from the shortest length and record this measurement.

If a variation of more than 4 mm exists this may result in the door not sliding properly, and additional tracking may have to be installed to make tracks parallel; contact the Help Desk 1300 735 405.

Interlocks

Frame Interlocks are supplied with all Seconline Sliding Security Screen Doors; 7mm Diamond doors are not security doors and are supplied with a side bug seal.

The purpose of interlocks is to lock the back of the sliding door into the fixed panel simultaneously as the door is closed into the locking position, this ensures that the doors are locked on both sides.

A frame interlock is fixed to the back of the sliding door at the point of installation so as to have it interlock with the receiving interlock which is located on the fixed glass panel (1.3 & 1.4).

No Receiving Interlocks?

If you do not have a receiving interlocks on the fixed glass panel then for the purpose of centre opening sliding doors it is necessary for you to install these.

There are three different size receiving interlock:

• 7 mm
• 3 mm
• Flat interlock

Identifying precisely which receiving interlock is most suitable to your doors can be using the following methods:

• If the distance from the centre of the top and bottom track to the face edge of the fixed glass panel is greater than 20 mm then a 7 mm offset interlock is required.

• If the distance from the centre of the top and bottom track to the face edge of the fixed glass panel is less than 20 mm and greater than 16 mm then a 3 mm offset interlock is required.

• If the distance from the centre of the top and bottom track to the face edge of the fixed glass panel is less than 16 mm then a flat interlock is required.

 

Door widths:

When measuring the widths for centre opening sliding doors that do not have receiving interlocks and will need to have a receiving interlocks fitted then the following procedure for measuring needs to be adhered to.

For 3 mm and 7 mm offset receiving interlocks measure from the back of the fixed glass panel on the right-hand side to the back of the fixed glass panel on the left-hand side, deduct 6 mm and divide this measurement by two for the individual door sizes to be ordered.

For flat interlock measure from the back of the fixed glass panel on the right-hand side to the back of the fixed glass panel on the left-hand side. Add 10 mm to this measurement and divide by two for the individual door sizes to be ordered. No deductions will be necessary.

Lock Side

From the outside looking in with the doors in the closed position establish which will be the Active Door (these should mirror your glass doors).

Lock Height

Take your lock measurement from the top of the bottom track, to the centre of where you want your lock handle. This will also be the centre of middle lock striker.

This measurement needs to be a minimum of 125 mm above the top of your existing solid door lock (1.8) or 60 mm below the bottom of your existing door lock handle (1.9).

1. Sliding the door

When you install a sliding door it is important to align top rollers to the top track first. Then lift the bottom rollers up on to the bottom track. Slide back and forth to make sure that you have rollers correctly on the track; do this with both doors.

Once both doors are on the tracks, roll them back and forth and then bringing them both to the centre. Now with a Philips head screwdriver adjust the rollers located at the back of the doors. Start with the bottom rollers and adjust only enough to bring doors into a perfectly square situation with each other in the centre location. Once this is done and the doors are square, adjust the top of rollers up so as to take any up-and-down movement out of the doors. Be careful at this point not to adjust rollers too tight as it may cause them stress. Only take the up-and-down movement out.

                                                                                                                       

2. Installing the H Receiver and Lock

This is designed to be fitted to the non-active door and may need some adjustment in height. Use a hacksaw or a drop saw to get the correct height, fit to the non-active door with the rivets supplied. The channel will have two small ribs in one side of and this is to face the non-active door leaving a clean U channel for the active door to close into.

Bring the doors together in the centre and mark the required location of the striker receiver to be installed onto the H channel. Using a 3 mm drill bit drill in the centre of the two elongated holes and attach the striker receiver with the screws provided. Close doors and adjust as necessary.

 

3. Installing the Frame Interlock

Bring the doors to the centre and allow to self catch together. Make sure the doors are centred perfectly and line up with the receiving interlocks on the fixed glass panels. There should now be approximately a 4 mm overlap; install the frame interlocks provided starting with the non-active then moving to the active. Using a 5/32-drill bit, drill and pop rivet the frame interlock with the rivets provided. In some cases it may be necessary to adjust length the of frame interlock, this can be done with a hacksaw. Once installed, open and close the doors to tests that they are locking and interlocking correctly. Test that the keys are operating both internally and externally and that the internal chrome snib is working correctly as well.

  

                                                                                                      

4. Installing the Receiving Interlock

For installation where a 3 mm or 7 mm receiving interlock required follow the process as above up until the the frame interlock is to be installed.

• Once you have established that your doors are locked and sliding back and forth as one complete unit, then line them up in the centre exactly. These now should be slightly overlapping the fixed glass panels by around 3-4 mm on either side.
• Take a visual memory note of where these will line up, slide the two doors to the left and install the right hand side receiving interlock onto the fixed glass panel.  Once this is completed slide the doors backing to position and double check that you have installed the receiving interlock to line up correctly with the back of the door.
• Slide the doors to the right and repeat the same process on the left-hand fixed glass panel; ensuring that when you bring the two doors back to the centre that the receiving interlocks do not come past the edges of the doors. 
• Install the receiving interlocks adjusting heights with a hacksaw as necessary.
• Two small lugs  are located on the inner part of the receiving interlock are designed to slide back and forth inside the back door to give you a degree of adjustment so as to align correctly.

For installation where a flat interlocks is required follow the process as above up until the the frame interlock is to be installed.

• You will notice now that your doors will overlap the fixed glass panel by around 10-12 mm on either side of the fixed glass panels. Make sure the doors are closed together and are in the absolute centre.
• Using a removable marker such as a text or pencil mark where the back of the door will stop in the closed position on to the glass on the behind the fixed glass panel.
• Slide the two doors to the left and install the flat interlock onto the fixed glass panel making sure not to drill too close to the glass. Be very careful during this process. Your doors are made from toughened glass and if you do happen to touch them with the drill bit or a rivet you stand a very high chance of cracking or shattering the glass inside the fixed glass panel.
• Once you have installed the right-hand side receiving interlocks slide the doors to the right and install the receiving interlock to the fixed glass panel on the left-hand side. Once this is completed bring the doors back to the centre to check alignment and then install the frame interlocks.

Open and test doors to make sure that they are locking and interlocking correct. Test also that the keys are operating both internally and externally and that the internal chrome Snib is functioning correctly.

Q. What are the recommended measuring deductions for Centre Opening Sliding Screen Doors?

A. We can only advise the standard allowances. Some doors may have individual quirks. Please provide measurements in millimetres. The measurements you provide will be the exact measurements your door will be fabricated. Please check your tape for accuracy. Measure your door from the outside looking in.

Standard drop deductions - 12 mm.

Standard width deduction: Measure the overall width of the opening from the back of the receiving interlock on the left door to the the back of the receiving interlock on the right, deduct 6 mm and divide by two, this will give you the width measurement for each door.

A. Q. What if my door does not have a receiving interlock.

A. Receiving Interlocks are required for Centre Opening Sliding Screen Doors and can be purchased from Seconline; contact the office for assistance 1300 735 405.

Q. Why do you need a centre of the door handle height?

A. To manufacture your door with the handle compatible with your existing handle for both sliding and hinged doors.

Q. How far above or below our existing solid door handle do we put our required handle height?

A. Below the existing solid door handle, then measure down a minimum of 65 mm from the bottom of the existing solid door handle to the centre of where you require the new handle . This allows the minimum distance required.

   Above the existing solid door handle,  measure up 125 mm from the top of the existing solid door handle to the centre of where you require the new handle. This allows the minimum distance required. 

Q. Do you have a showroom that I can visit?

Q. What Powder Coat colours do you use?
A. Colours are standard Interpon and Dulux Powder Coat colours.

Q. Can I have another Colour if I am willing to pay for it?

Q. How long does it take?
A. The door is manufactured within 7 working days from receiving your measurements. Shipment usually takes one to four days. Once goods are dispatched with Regional Road Express you will be sent a dispatch notification.

Q. Can I pick the door up?
A. If you live locally yes, otherwise we ship Australia wide.

Q. Do you discount for multiple doors?
A. No, however we can discount freight for multiple items.

Q. Can multiple doors be made keyed alike?
A. Yes, in lots of ten.

Q. Can the door be made out of square?                                                                  

A. No.

Q. What is the thickness of the door frame?

A. Standard 20 mm
